I'm so excited!
We got the house we put an offer on a few weeks ago and will be moving in t minus 3 weeks. Now we just have to pack, pack and then pack. And tend to all the business that is involved with moving. Yuck!
Our place right now is such a mess and I'm feeling a little jumbled as well, so I like to look at the photos of our new place to calm myself. That's a peek of our new kitchen above.
Isn't it adorable?
Although I had dreamed of an all white modern kitchen, this one has such charm to it, that we couldn't help but feel at home in it. And that was our take on the whole house, really. After months of house hunting, this was the first one that we could picture ourselves and Whitney growing up in.
A few more photos...

Funny enough, we didn't see any photos of it beforehand - the seller's real estate agent was a bit lazy, I'm told - so we weren't expecting much when we went for the viewing. But it certainly worked in our favour, because we did not have to contend with other offers - phew! - and have a bidding war. I am forever indebted to my parents who again helped us get this house... we would be renting for many more years in Toronto, if not for them. Their only worry - and ours somewhat - is that the house will be a money pit, as it is most likely a century old - but fingers crossed that it isn't. The previous owner supposedly got a better job offer - though in Montreal - so I think that's a good sign of house luck.
Anyways, I am eager to decorate. While we are pretty happy with most of the paint colours, the bedrooms require a more personal touch. Whitney's room awaits!
After months of waiting, I learned some wonderful news this past week.

Last Fall, I had several potential new creative ventures, but there was one that I hoped would pan out the most. And at the end of the week, I found out that this new "project" is finally coming together. To put it mildly, I'm totally thrilled. I know I'm being rather cryptic, but I can't yet reveal all the details.
Soon, though, I hope.

In other news, it is now t minus 3 days until my mom arrives for a visit. It'll be the first time she's been to our new home - the home that she and my dad helped us buy without their seeing it in person - so we're trying to get everything cleaned up and organized just so for her.
Here's a sneak peek of what we've been doing today:

Or rather that Matt has mostly been doing :)
(It was his choice though, as he's the more experienced wall painter and the roller we got "is a bit tricky", in his words.)
I'm not that worried though, since I already know she's not a fan of open concept living, and there's not a whole lot I can do to sway her opinion once she's made up her mind about something. Plus she's not a cat lover and she's never met Suki or Dex, so really, there's no point in stressing out. Easier said than done.
At least we'll be celebrating Mother's Day together for the first time in many years. I'm looking forward to that. The challenge will be deciding what to get her, or what not to get her. If you are Asian or know anyone else who is, then you'll understand what I mean.
This cartoon sums it up best though.
Get your own cool wallet right here. Or not :)
Enjoy the rest of your weekends!
Normally I would take it easier on the weekends. But these days it seems that weekends are when we are busiest.
Look how busy we were here, a few weekends ago (those are the hideous beasts I mentioned in a previous post):
It was nice out yesterday, so Matt convinced me to bike to all our destinations. (He will avoid taking public transit as much as possible if he can) I agreed as long as we could go sleeper sofa shopping. Ha Ha! The last time I rode my bike though was more than 3 months ago, so by the day's end, my legs were mighty tired.
The shopping trip was kind of a bust, as we found out that in order to get a remotely nice looking sofa-bed at the places we went to, you'd need to shell out at least $2000. But when we got home, I did some more online research and discovered that this place just may have what we are looking for, for the price we want too. We'll be going there soon.
Today we tackled a paint job. At least, partly.

The table still needs another coat of paint. Hopefully not more, because it reeks and those smells are not good for the kitties or us. Matt gets to do the final coat as I will be out tomorrow.
I finally updated my site today too, though only the home page and some links. News will be updated soon. And if all goes well, expect a big shop update later this week. I've got some new things in the works, so it will depend how successful I am with them.
Wish me luck!
